A debate over whether the dollar should remain the world’s key currency has recently ignited between the United States and China. Although trust in the U.S. dollar as the key currency has been weakened because of the global economic crisis, the debate was triggered by a statement released March 23 from Zhou Xiaochuan, the governor of the People's Bank of China, who said that as an alternative to the U.S. dollar, China wanted to enlarge the role of the SDR (Special Drawing Right) of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). 1. Purpose of Research


This research has two purposes. First, using a multidisciplinary approach drawing on the humanities, political science, economics, and sociology, we seek an ideological foundation to understand Northeast Asia as a transnational space. Second, the investigators also need to develop an understanding of not only the formation of Northeast Asia’s migration network and multicultural society but also the concept of the “institution” in the Northeast Asian context and the changes in the regional governance structure....
