Ⅰ. Introduction As one of the most trusted research institutes in the field of Northeast Asian studies, the Asiatic Research Institute (ARI) has led area studies
through interdisciplinary research. Since its founding in 1957, ARI has
endeavored to analyze empirical realities from various academic perspectives
and suggest a desirable future direction through a systematic compilation of
its research, producing many works, including the Diplomatic Documents of the
Late Joseon Dynasty, the Communist Bloc Studies Series, the Chinese Research
Series, the Korea-Japan Joint Research Series, and the Democracy Series. In
view of the importance of Northeast Asian studies, ARI has published the ARI
Monograph Series since 2009 with an aim to expand the academic foundation of
Northeast Asian studies. We would like to request many able scholars of
humanities and social sciences to submit their applications for this project. Ⅱ. Areas and Potential Applicants ● Areas: humanities and social sciences related to
the Northeast Asian region ● Types of applications 1. No thematic restrictions (individual research, joint research) 2. Publication of a doctoral dissertation ● Qualifications for application 1. Free topic: Ph.D. holders who have published at least five papers
over the last five years 2. A doctoral dissertation: new Ph.D. holders who have received a Ph.D.
within the last five years ● Further information 1. A manuscript containing more than 30% of contents already published
will not be accepted. 2. A manuscript written in English is accepted for a review. Ⅲ. Support & Schedule ● Support 1. Eight million to 15 million won per project (Up to 12,000 dollars for
a manuscript in English) 2. The work will be published as a volume in the ARI Monograph Series by
ARI Press. ※ The Monograph Series Screening Committee will select
a winning manuscript. ● Submission of the paper 1. A length of approximately 1,200 pages on squared manuscript paper 2. Within two years from the contract date Ⅳ. Application ● Application Period: July 6 to August 3 ● Documents to be submitted: Send the following by
mail (1~6) and by email (1~5). 1. Application form 2. Résumé 3. Writing plan (It should be a length of approximately 50 pages on
squared manuscript paper. A bibliography does not count toward page
requirement.) 4. List of papers published 5. Summary of representative papers 6. Two representative papers ※ Numbers 5 and 6 are not applicable for those
