2012 ARI Monograph Series Support Project

Ⅰ. Introduction

As one of the most trusted research institutes in the field of Northeast Asian studies, the Asiatic Research Institute (ARI) has led area studies through interdisciplinary research. Since its founding in 1957, ARI has endeavored to analyze empirical realities from various academic perspectives and suggest a desirable future direction through a systematic compilation of its research, producing many works, including the Diplomatic Documents of the Late Joseon Dynasty, the Communist Bloc Studies Series, the Chinese Research Series, the Korea-Japan Joint Research Series, and the Democracy Series. In view of the importance of Northeast Asian studies, ARI has published the ARI Monograph Series since 2009 with an aim to expand the academic foundation of Northeast Asian studies.
