[2011 Domestic Symposium] Development of Welfare Politics in Korea and its Prospects

ARI held a symposium under the theme “Development of Welfare Politics in Korea and its Prospects” in the ARI Main Conference Room on May 21^st. In the opening ceremony, Director Nae-young Lee attached significance to the symposium, saying that welfare is an important issue that should be addressed in depth in all areas such as politics, economy, and society.

There were five presentations and discussions at the symposium. The first two presentations dealt with the past, present, and future of welfare policies from the macro-perspective and the other three presentations were on social services and pension. The first and second presentations covered welfare policies from the macro-perspective while the other presentations dealt with detailed areas of welfare such as social services, the retirement income security system, healthcare policy, and health insurance.
