[2011 Domestic Symposium] Perspectives and Issues in Research on North Korean Defectors
Main Content: In the symposium there were paper presentations and discussions on topics such as “Adaptation and Assimilation,” “Social Exclusion of Minorities,” “Unification and Multiculturalism,” and “Comprehensive Model.” Recently, internal and external environments surrounding North Korean defectors have been changing rapidly. Against this backdrop, the symposium served as a timely and effective forum of discussion where participants academically analyzed major issues that should be considered for more valid research on North Korean defectors in the future and sought policy alternatives based on social sympathy and solidarity.
