Tang Juan _ an associate professor in Department of Public Administration of Shenzhen University
"The Variety of China’s Urban Community Governance During the Period of Social Transformation:System, Process and Effect"
Dr. Tang Juan is an associate professor in Department of Public Administration of Shenzhen University. Her research interests focus on the fields of Chinese urban community and local public governance, social movement on the grassroots level, Chinese civil society development and citizen participation. She has published 7 books and almost 50 papers or so, such as Co-possession, Co-use, Co-governance (Chinese Society Publishing House,2009).She was responsible for some research projects of local governments, Such as Harmonious Community Building and Institution Innovation ( July 2007- March 2008). Urban Community Management System Reform ( June 2005-June 2006). These projects respectively won top prizes of the Fourth China Local Government Innovation Award (2008) and the Third one ( 2006).

Ma Weihong _ a lecturer at the Department of Public Administration in Shenzhen University
"Politicalizing Protests: Possibilities and Limits of Grassroots Democracy in Urban China"
Dr. Ma Weihong is a lecturer at the Department of Public Administration in Shenzhen University, China. She received her Ph.D at City University of Hong Kong in late 2005. She was a postdoctoral fellow at the Centre for East Asian Studies in the University of Turku, Finland, in 2007. Her teaching and research interests span the fields of social transformation, urban grassroots democracy and governance in China, and Chinese NGOs’ development. Her English articles have appeared at the Journals like China Information (2006), Journal of Contemporary Asia (2009), and Journal of Contemporary China (2010, forthcoming).
